WELCOmE FROM Our HEADTeACHER

When girls begin their adventures at our Junior School, they step into a world designed not just to nurture, but to challenge.

This is a warm and happy school, where everyone knows everyone and where the girls, parents and staff have a strong sense of identity and belonging. Very quickly, your daughter will become a Redmaid.

Kindness is key, is our first 'Golden Rule', and underpins all our interactions. A culture of celebration and wanting to do well creates an environment where girls can be high achievers, learning about their own strengths and also the areas to grow and develop.

As experts in Key Stage 2, we focus on the wellbeing of your daughter at this crucial phase of growing up. Our entry year at Year 3 (age seven) recognises the developmental importance of the beginning of logical thought. It is also the optimum age for the development of memory and when children begin to apply creative thinking to problem solving. Between the ages of seven and eleven, children develop empathy and emotional intelligence through their social interactions and it is this that underpins our pastoral curriculum.

We put the girls at the forefront of our planning, offering a whole range of experiences and opportunities to find out about themselves. Alongside a busy curriculum that values all subjects, we instil the confidence to try new things and reflect on how we are learning. Our varied Extra Curricular Activities programme offers a range of opportunities that are for all. Learning to be yourself and knowing that there are no stereotypes here can be life changing; fighting ferociously in judo one day and dancing in ballet the next is common here.

Visiting our School and meeting the girls is the best way to start imagining how your daughter would benefit from what we offer. Our Year 6 ‘chatterers’ on visiting mornings – or any girls you may meet around the School – are our best ambassadors, and will give you a clear idea of what is happening ‘on the ground’ and the lived experience.

I still love coming to school every day and I am sure your daughters will love it here too! We look forward to meeting you in person.

If you give a seven-year-old the opportunities, they can fly.

Mrs Brown, Headteacher
