BEYOND THE
CURRICULUM

The space and facilities where students can discover, play and excel.

Our 12-acre School site in Westbury-on-Trym provides the optimum environment to thrive, offering specialist facilities, light and airy teaching spaces and extensive grounds. This includes two distinct performing arts spaces: the Performing Arts Centre for smaller-scale productions and Redland Hall our superb auditorium and state-of-the-art performance space for larger productions. There is also a specialist music block, dedicated Sixth Form Centre, contemporary science laboratories and indoor and outdoor sports areas.

We have an additional 16-acre multi-purpose sports site, The Lawns, just a short drive from the School. This top-class facility further enhances our sports provision, with a National Hockey Federation hockey pitch, netball courts, cricket pitches, tennis courts, extensive athletics space and a 3G football pitch. It is no surprise that, when combined with our excellent coaching offering, we see our students and teams enjoy national success across a range of sports.

This top-class facility further enhances our sports provision, with a National Hockey Federation hockey pitch, netball courts, cricket pitches, tennis courts, extensive athletics space and 3G football pitch.  It is no surprise that, when combined with our excellent coaching offering, we were the preferred choice to host the Nova Severn Stars Netball Academy or that we see our students and teams enjoy national success across a range of sports.

Every opportunity
to take part.

We know that participation and performance come in all guises. In competitive sport, an extensive fixture list for teams of every level with schools across the region enables all athletes to shine. In elite sport, we compete in county, regional and national tournaments in hockey, netball, cricket and athletics.

Our Outdoor Adventures programme gives students the opportunity to discover and excel in alternative sporting pursuits including skateboarding, surfing, kayaking, orienteering and bouldering. It is our mission to help every girl find their sport, pursuit or activity so they can enjoy being outdoors, new experiences and acquire new skills.  With this adventurous spirit, it’s no wonder we’re the largest Duke of Edinburgh training provider in Bristol.

Music is integral at Redmaids’ High. Nearly 20 ensembles rehearse weekly, from the chamber choir and musical theatre group to an a cappella group, symphony orchestra and swing band.

We hold concerts throughout the year with and our biennial music tours have seen students perform in Spain, Italy, China and Austria.

Our stage presence continues as our annual school production routinely breaks the mould with younger students honing their talents in an additional lower school production either on stage or behind the scenes. There is also the chance to compete in music and drama events locally, regionally and nationally.

The chance to lead and shape.

Those students keen to lead can take on roles to keep the school moving forward and enhance our school community. Skills acquired as a Form Leader or Junior Almoner will aid personal development and, when the time comes, all students have the chance to apply for a role in the Sixth Form Leadership team. This pivotal group led by the Head Girls helps to shape the school’s approach to areas like our environmental footprint, digital learning and charity and outreach.

Our active school council also plays a prominent role in ensuring all student voices are heard.
